Year 2 Week 3 2013

Our topic of China got off to a good start this week with the children sharing their homework facts! The homework sparked lots of interest and conversation.

We have been finding China on maps, identifying the flag and looking at life in major cities, i.e. Shanghai and the capital city of Beijing.

Writing Character Descriptions, In Sentences
Our Chinese New Year celebration will be on Wednesday 13 February. We encourage all children to come to school dressed in Chinese outfits on this day, or a red outfit if this is not possible.

In Literacy this week, we have been writing character descriptions. Homework for this week is to continue working hard on using adjectives in writing, by describing a Chinese setting, which is included in your child’s homework book.

Back to China. China is now, and will be in the future, an important trading partner. For this reason, Year 2 learnt a few phrases from the Chinese language yesterday afternoon, using our iPads in Computer Science.
