Year 3 Week 19 2014

Theseus and the dreadful Minotaur! (With thanks to Mrs. Jefferys)
Another busy week in Year 3 has seen us working hard on our Greek topic where the children have developed their geographical skills by using atlases to locate key features and places of importance in Greece.

In art Mr. Fidler has started the class off with using clay to produce some authentic Greek pottery!

Several Painted Lady butterflies
emerged from their chrysalises
during Y3's Science lesson today
Literacy this week has been a continuation of our unit on Theseus and the Minotaur. The children have used Talk For Writing and drama to help them rewrite the myth. They have done a great job!

In mathematics Mr. Kerray’s group have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 while Mr. Askew’s group have used partitioning for multiplication and looked at telling the time.

R.E this week has centred around the Bible – the children explored an ancient Bible and then we elicited their prior knowledge of the New Testament.

In ICT we used Espresso to research about the Greek City States.

  • Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
  • Please return homework folders every Wednesday so that new tasks can be added.
  • Please bring in P.E kits on Monday - these will be sent home on Fridays.
Many Thanks for your continued support! Mr. Askew and Mr. Kerray
