|Mrs. P-B's School Of Tennis|
We have completed our Literacy unit of work studying ‘The Highwayman’. The children have worked incredibly hard this week to plan, draft and then write a narrative version of the poem from a character’s perspective. I certainly look forward to reading these through during the half-term break!
In Maths this week, the children in Mr Westmoreland’s group have continued to work on solving problems using all four number operations. The children have also set their own targets regarding their knowledge and understanding of these four number operations.
|Year 5, In Singing Practise|
Mrs Pond-Barrett’s group have been working with fractions and decimals. They have been multiplying and dividing numbers with 1 and 2 decimal places by 10 and 100, and have also used place value to add and subtract numbers with 2 decimal places.
In ICT, the children have started to learn how to use Microsoft Excel to create spread sheets. They have already become familiar with the cells and how to input information into particular cells to create a picture.
This week they have created a spread sheet based upon a modelled example on income and expenditure of a family for a year. The children used formulas to calculate total expenditure for a month, as well as the total savings or investments that could be made.
