Year 1 Week 24 2014

Making Mathematics Fun
Thank you to all the children who are remembering to bring a water bottle and sun hat each day. Please support your child to “be prepared” and stay safe in the sun.

In Literacy this week, our children have been working hard to include connectives, descriptive words, capital letters and full stops in their writing. The children have also enjoyed completing simple crosswords!

In Mathematics, the children have been using dice, spinners etc. to generate numbers to use in addition and subtraction sentences. We have been assessing the progress and achievements that each child has made this year. Well done Year 1! Keep up the hard work, please.

Phonics and Reading Homework: Please take the time to practise phonics and reading again with your child this weekend. Regular rehearsal, a few minutes every day, will help your child to consolidate their phonics skills.

The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, will take place next week, beginning on Monday 16th June.

Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Hawker and Mrs Halstead
