Year 3 Week 23 2014

Refereeing Theseus And The Minotaur
An enjoyable start to the children’s last half – term as Year 3 pupils has seen them continue to learn about Greek Civilisation through drama, art, literature and ICT.
In English we put the finishing touches to our Theseus and the Minotaur introductory speeches culminating in THE BIG MATCH where the children performed their speeches in a mock wrestling ring in the hall. We have some budding TV/Sports presenters in the making! Finally we looked at poetry in readiness for next week’s work.

In Mathematics Mr. Askew’s group carried out data handling activities and looked at decimal numbers. Mr Kerray’s group have been measuring lines accurately and revising 2D shapes.

Egging On The Opposing Sides
In art with Mr Fidler the children experimented with colour mixing to produce hair for a picture of gorgons using straw blowing.

In RE the focus was sacred texts based on the story of Bidal the first muezzin from the Muslim tradition.

In PE the children are really developing their rounders’ skills well  in small competitive games.

Reminders:
* Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
* Please return homework folders every Wednesday so that new tasks can be added.
* Please bring in P.E kits on Monday -  these will be sent home on Fridays.

Many Thanks for your continued support! Mr. Askew and Mr. Kerray
