Year 3 Week 26 2014

Experiments with colours
Another week where the children have worked hard as the Summer Term rushes by!

In Literacy the children have used ‘innovation’ to rewrite the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. This is where they change certain elements of the story such as the mythical beast. We have had many creative and original ideas in the children’s versions!

Multiplication & Division
Mr. Kerrays mathematics group have used their knowledge of multiplication facts to help them solve division problems. Mr. Askew’s group have been reinforcing the use of number lines for solving addition and subtraction problems.

In RE Ganesha’s story was revisited and we looked at the symbolism Ganesha holds for Hindu faith communities. The children used a computer graphics package in ICT to change an image in a variety of different ways.

Number Square Work
PE this week saw the children improving their sprinting and throwing skills – not long to Sports Day now!

In art Mr Fidler led a session on experimenting with colours.

The children are getting excited about their trip next week to the Bauer Bernd farm.

Just a reminder about your creative homework to build a maze for Theseus and the Minotaur which is due in next week.

  • Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
  • Please return homework folders every Wednesday so that new tasks can be added.
  • Please bring in P.E kits on Monday -  these will be sent home on Fridays.
Many Thanks for your continued support! Mr. Askew and Mr. Kerray
