Year 3 Week 39 2014

Literacy Work, This Week
In Literacy this week we have created character studies for our two protagonists: Rama and Ravana. Mr.Askew's class have created a stick puppet show illustrating the story of Rama and Sita. The children have planned and edited their sentence ideas.

The mathematics setting is going well and Mr.Kerray has been working on number bonds to 20;these are such an important building block for mathematical learning. We have also been using an economic strategy for adding on 9.Ask the children to explain! Mr.Askew is working on strategies for adding 9,19,29, and number bonds to 100.

Incorporating Aspects of the
Hindu Faith
In I.C.T the children have been exploring Espresso Education and practising their copying and pasting skills.

In R.E. we celebrated the Hindu aspect of Puja. We have created a Puja shrine and we found out the significance of the artefacts on display.

Music with Mr.Reeves this week was using the xylophone to determine high and low notes.

The work of Paul Klee is being continued with Mr.Fidler.

Letting off steam at play time
There is mathematics and spelling homework this week. Could this please be handed in on Wednesday so the following weeks homework can be added.

If you feel you need to discuss any issues with us please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Remember to continue reading daily with your child, 10 minutes daily practice will really help them to improve.
You could also discuss together the book you have read, again this is an important reading skill that
the children need to develop.
*Please keep signing your child's journal to indicate that you have read with your child.* Many thanks.

Please bring PE kits into school on Monday, we will send them home on Friday.

Many thanks for your support
Mr Askew and Mr Kerray
