|A bit of bartering|
The children have had a great first week in Year 4 and we all look forward to an exciting year ahead!
What a busy week! - We have spent the past 4 days getting to know each other, taking part in Circle Time games as well as a variety of cross-curricular activities.
The children enjoyed rehearsing and filming a short presentation introducing themselves and telling their classmates information about them. We also discussed how a class is like a jigsaw…... Everyone is a unique piece of the ‘class puzzle’, but we all fit together perfectly! The children then created their own jigsaw piece with pictures of things that they like or enjoy doing.
Year 4 all had a brilliant time taking part in pioneering activities and a trade game. Working in mixed teams, they had to work together and decide which products they wanted to create from a given list. With a budget of £25 from the ‘Trade Game Bank’, the children had to ‘hire’ or ‘buy’ the necessary materials or equipment needed to make each product, before ‘selling’ them to the ‘buyers’ (Mrs Pond-Barrett and Mrs Scannell) in order to make as much money as possible.
The children worked really well together to make their products and get the best possible price for their items, (up to a maximum amount) - The ruthless ‘buyers’(!) offered a price for what they thought the items were worth and the children either accepted the offer or took their products back to try to improve them in order to (hopefully) get a better price! A very eventful afternoon!
It’s lovely to see that many of the children have already been reading every day at home. Keep it up! What a great start to the school year!
Have a good weekend, Mrs Pond-Barrett & Mrs Scannell
