Year 3 Week 42 2014

The bare bones of it ...
In Literacy this week we have been looking at questions we would like to ask Ravana. We are studying question words and the use of capital letters and question marks. In our answers to our questions we will be reinforcing capital letters, proper nouns and full stops.

Mr.Askew's class will be continuing their work on newspaper headlines and using their specific features to create headlines about the role of the step-mother in our Literacy Unit: Rama and Sita.

In mathematics this week Mr.Kerray's set has been working on addition of tens and units with exchanging using an economic strategy and an introduction to subtraction. Mr.Askew have been measuring time looking at calendars and clocks.

In I.C.T the children have edited their document and added images.

In R.E. we continued looking at the deity Laxmi, the goddess of wealth;again we have used our observational skills to record the component parts of the image.

Mr.Fidler. is embarking on a theme of light and dark to correspond with our topic work producing beautiful 'dark' and 'light' torch pictures.

There is mathematics and spelling homework this week. Could this please be handed in on Wednesday so the following weeks homework can be added.

If you feel you need to discuss any issues with us please don't hesitate to get in touch.

REMINDERS.

  • Remember to continue reading daily with your child, 10 minutes daily practice will really help them to improve. You could also discuss together the book you have read, again this is an important reading skill that the children need to develop.
  • Please keep signing your child's journal to indicate that you have read with your child. Many thanks.
  • Please bring PE kits into school on Monday, we will send them home on Friday.

Many thanks for your support  Mr Askew and Mr Kerray
