Year 1 Week 45 2014

Animated Characters
It has been a pleasure to welcome our children back to school, after the holiday, refreshed and eager to work hard!

Forest Schools: Please remember to send wellies and warm, waterproof clothing with your child every Tuesday. The children will continue to work outside every Tuesday afternoon, whatever the weather! Thank you.

In Literacy, we have been enjoying the story called “The Tiger Who Came to Tea” by Judith Kerr. We have used our “Talk for Writing” to retell the story in sequence.

Everybody has thought about words that some of the characters might say. The children have written these sentences and questions inside speech bubbles.

Also highly animated!
In Mathematics, we have been learning that a “teen” number is 1 ten and a number of units. (15 is 1 ten and 5 units.) They have practised recording e.g. 17 = 10 + 7. The children have also made amounts using 10p and 1p coins.

No Toys, Please! We would like to remind you that children should not bring toys to school, please, as we do not want special items to be lost or broken.

Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Hawker and Miss Caunter
