Year 2 Week 48 2014

Making puppets
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the parent meetings this week, it was lovely to see so many of you.

This week in Year Two, we have started looking at a new book 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. The children have been thinking about how the penguin ended up on the boy's doorstep and have followed instructions to draw a penguin.
Sawing carefully

In Maths, Miss Mead's group have been adding 11, 21, 12 and 22 to 2 digit numbers as well as recapping positional language. Mrs. Halstead's group have been using rulers to measure to the nearest cm and have been using coordinates.

In Forest School this week, the children were taught how to use hack saws safely to cut branches. The pieces they cut will be used to make Christmas decorations.

To make Christmas decorations
We have given out the parts for the school play, so the children's homework this week is to start learning their lines and if they do not speak in the play, the need to be practising the songs.

Reminder: PE kits need to be in school on Monday and Forest School kit needs to be in school on Tuesday. We are still going outside with Forest School, so please make sure your child has plenty of warm layers.

Thank you for your support, Miss Mead, Mrs. Halstead and the Year Two Team.
