|Year 1, getting their bearings. Compass work in Forest Schools|
“Thank you” to all parents/carers who have sent in some of their old toys. We will be looking at these toys in detail next week. Any additional toys would be gratefully received!
In Literacy, we have been making pages for a non-fiction book. The children have practised writing a heading and labelling a picture. Later in the week we wrote a first sentence to tell the reader what the page is about. The following sentences gave the reader more facts and details about the object on that page.
In Mathematics, the children have been recognising coins up to the value of a £2 coin. We have made amounts of money e.g. 14p, 17p, 18p. First, we used a 10p coin and 1p coins to make each amount. Our next challenge was to make the same amount of money with as few coins as possible.
Well done to all the children who are reading at least five times every week. Please continue to support your child to read regularly, in order to improve their reading skills further.
- Please send appropriate clothing, including waterproofs and wellies, for Forest Schools every Tuesday.
- Please send PE kit to school every Monday.
Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Hawker, Miss Caunter and the Year One Team
