Year 3 Week 04 2015

Indoor Hockey Practise
In Literacy we have looked in more depth at Shakespeare's Macbeth and identified the powerful vocabulary used. The children are 'hooked' on the story. We looked at how we could substitute some of the 'battlefield' vocabulary to portray a powerful piece of writing.

In mathematics Mr.Askew's class have used partitioning to add 3 digit numbers together and studying the 8 times table. Mr.Kerray's class have  been looking at how they could use the strategy of partitioning to help add 2 digit numbers. We have also introduced number bonds to 100.

Our computing session has shown a continuation of the Scratch program. The children created their own aliens and gave them instructions.

In RE the children were introduced to the Christian Victorian painting: William Holman Hunt's Light of the World. This will be the basis for our R.E. unit this term.

Mr. Reeves continues his work on the ukulele. In art we made more simple Victorian toys.

History this week continues to look at the Victorian period in more depth: The life of Victoria and Albert and a 'glimpse'  of Victorian life outside the palace!

Forest schools is proving to be good fun with Mrs Carroll at the helm!

There is mathematics and English homework this week. Could this please be handed in on Wednesday so the following weeks homework can be added.

  • Remember to continue reading daily with your child, 10 minutes daily practice will really help them to improve. You could also discuss together the book you have read, again this is an important reading skill that the children need to develop. Please keep signing your child's journal
  • to indicate that you have read with your child. Many thanks.
  • Please bring PE kits into school on Monday, we will send them home on Friday.
Many thanks for your support, Mr Askew and Mr Kerray,
