Year 5/6 Week 02 2015

Y5/6 ready for today's Good Work Assembly
Despite the children only having four days in school this week, they have been working extremely hard in all aspects of their learning.

We would like to welcome Mrs Grant to the Y5/6 team, she will be working alongside Miss Kinsey.  Mr Titley has moved to work in FS2 but I’m sure that the children will still see him around school.

Our focus in English this week has been to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of nouns and adjectives. They have secured their understanding of common and proper nouns and have been exploring abstract nouns and inventing their own collective nouns.

Our topic for the term is the Ancient Egyptians and children have begun to explore what they already know about the Egyptians and have been planning what they might like in their learning environment.

Children have found out the instruments that they will be playing in class music lessons and we are working to building a Y5/6 orchestra.

We would like to celebrate those children who have read regularly over the holidays as well as completed extra research.

Children will continue with their spelling homework in their spelling logs. The focus this week is homophones. There is also maths homework for all groups this year.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Miss Graham & Mrs Creighton
