Year 4 Week 07 2015

It’s Karneval!  The children looked absolutely brilliant in their costumes and a great deal of imagination was put into their costume. Our Karneval day was extra special as we turned ours into a ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ theme day and a great time was had by all. We spent the morning preparing lots of tasty treats that might be found in Wonka’s factory and then in the afternoon, the children took part in Wonka’s Wacky races!

In Literacy this week, the children have completed their unit of work on newspaper reports. The children planned their own report, trying hard to make sure they included all the features of newspaper reports that we have been learning about. They then completed their ‘HOT Write’, using their plan to write an entire newspaper report.

Mrs Pond-Barrett’s Maths group have been learning how to find unit fractions of 2-digit numbers, (e.g. 1/5 of 40, 1/8 of 24). We have then been finding non-unit fractions of 2-digit numbers, (e.g. 3/5 of 40, 6/8 of 24). Mrs Scannell’s Maths group have been looking through and consolidating the work they have completed this term.

Creative Homework project – The children will be creating food faces! – Please see the information sheet in the homework folder.
Maths – Both Maths groups have been allocated some games to play on the Active Learn website. Log-in details can be found on the inside cover of the journal.
Reading – Please continue to listen to your child read at least 5 times a week and record any reading that they do in their journals.
Spellings – Children can continue to work on learning the list of spelling words for Year 3 & 4.

Thank you for your continued support.

Have a lovely half-term break!
