Firstly we’d like to say well done to all the children in Y5/6 for dealing with this week’s changes so well. They have taken the new timetable in their stride and all the teachers involved have been suitably impressed!
Maths homework will be sent home this week with Mrs Hood’s and Mrs Scannell’s maths group. With many children in Miss Kinsey and Miss Graham’s group being involved in the ski trip next week, we have agreed that children can access targeted activities on both Mathletics and Active Learn to consolidate their prior learning.
Mrs Hood’s maths group have been learning about 2D shapes and have been developing their shape vocabulary as well as measuring language. Miss Kinsey’s class have been using ‘fact families’, ‘smile multiplication’ and ‘coin maths’ to develop their mental maths skills working with place value, multiplication and division. Miss Graham’s maths group have been choosing efficient methods for adding decimals and investigating decimals.
Whether in Y5 or Y6, next week will be a most enjoyable week. Children remaining in school with take part in many exciting book related activities to celebrate World Book Day. The weather is looking good for a great week of skiing for those taking part in the trip.
As well as reading fiction and non-fiction books at home, we are encouraging children this week to dip in to poetry books or find a poem on the internet that they might like to share with the class.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
