Year 3 Week 12 2015

This week in English we have continued our Talk for Writing unit based on the story of the Dragon Kite and are using the text as a model for good writing.

Mr. Kerray’s mathematics group this week have been introduced to fractions, looking at a whole, half and a quarter. Mr. Askew’s group have been working
on written methods of addition and in particular the vertical column method.

In RE the children learnt about Palm Sunday through drama, re –enacting Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

In Computing the children caught up with the news on Espresso, earned some extra points in Mathletics and carried out a science activity in Education City! (Don’t forget your child has Log Ins for these educational sites in the front of their journal.)
.
Mr Fidler continued his printing project in art based on the work of the Victorian designer William Morris. Mr Reeves continued teaching the children skills for mastering the art of playing the ukulele!
Victorian Waxworks Museum

Waxworks Museum – it was good to see so many of you at the Victorian Waxworks event. We trust you enjoyed the splendid presentations put on by the children!

Reminders:
Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
Please bring in P.E kits on Monday – these will be sent home on Fridays.

Many Thanks for your continued support!
Mr Askew, Mr Kerray, Mrs Jefferys and Mrs Baker.
