Year 5/6 Week 12 2015

You will have noticed that teaching and learning has stepped up a gear this term as we approach SATs week (w/c 11.5.15). To ensure that children have nothing to worry about in assessment week, we are preparing them so that they feel confident in their own ability and familiar with the test materials.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sending home a range of activities that will enable you to be involved in your child’s test preparation. All homework that is set will be targeted at your child’s individual needs, therefore we would value your support with helping them to complete this. Homework in Y6 will always be handed in on Wednesday.
If your child is struggling to meet this deadline or has difficulty with completing the homework, please contact the class teacher.

Class teachers are working very closely with children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to ensure that all children are making good progress.

In English this week we have been continuing our work on discursive writing. Children have been using powerful language to express their ideas and ambitious connectives to ensure cohesion.

Mrs Hood’s Maths group have been exploring numbers with decimal places this week. Miss Kinsey and Miss Graham’s group have been solving problems using averages.

We look forward to seeing you at our SATs meeting next week.
