Year 1 Week 17 2015

In Literacy this week the children have been learning how to use speech marks correctly in their written work. They have also used interesting words to replace “said” when writing about how a character speaks. Each class has innovated the story of “Jack and the Beanstalk”. What will Jack see at the top of the beanstalk now?

In Mathematics the children have been using number facts to add 1 digit numbers to related 2 digit numbers.
E.g. 3+4=7, 13+4=17, 23+4=7, 33+4=37.
The children have used number facts in a similar way when subtracting. E.g. 17-2=15, 27-2=25, 37-2=35, etc.
Reading – It is a pleasure for us to hear the Year 1 children reading with increasing confidence, accuracy and fluency. Please continue to read with your child at least 5 times every week.
Forest Schools – Please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing and footwear for the warmer weather. Each child needs to wear a thin, long-sleeved top as well as long trousers/leggings. This is to minimise the risk of infection from ticks. Your child also will need a sun hat and sun cream, as well as suitable footwear.
Please check your child every Tuesday for ticks, just in case.

Thank you for your continued support.
