Year 1 Week 18 2015

In Literacy our “Hot Write” was retelling the story of Jack and the beanstalk with all the new changes. The children used speech marks and ‘said words’ when they were writing how a character speaks. We were thrilled to see lots of great ‘wow words’ and correct use of punctuation in the writing as well. What did Jack see when he got to the top of the beanstalk? Ask your child what they changed it to!

What is at the top?
In Mathematics the children have been adding 3 small numbers together. The children had to see if they could spot any double pairs or number bonds to 10 to help them solve the problem.

Tier Park trip
On Monday 11th May we will be going to the Tier Park in Bielefeld. This is part of looking at life processes and living things and a hook into our new unit of work in literacy. We will be leaving school at 9:30 and will be returning by 13:30 at the latest (weather dependent). A reminder that your child will need:
A packed lunch and drink, snack, suitable footwear, waterproof coat and sun hat. We ask that if it is sunny on Monday morning prior to the children coming to school to please put sun cream on your child.

Thank you for your continued support,
The Year One Team.
