Year 3 Week 17 2015

The ancient Greeks are still here!!!!!!!
We are reading as many Greek myths and legends as possible. We continue to concentrate on the tale of Theseus and the Minotaur. We are planning a magazine front cover with Theseus/Minotaur/Ariadne being the focus of the front page.

Mr. Kerray’s mathematics group this week have been solving subtraction and addition word problems using a variety of strategies. Mr. Askew’s group have looked at different strategies for solving subtraction problems.

In R.E. the children have been introduced to The New Testament story of the prodigal son. We did some freeze frames of the return of the lost son.

In Computing we found out about different services we can use on the internet, in readiness for creating an online encyclopaedia page. (Don’t forget your child has log in’s for educational sites in the front of their journal.)

Mr Fidler has introduced the skill of wax relief to create images of Greek pottery.
Mr Reeves continues teaching the children skills for mastering the art of playing the ukulele!
Remember we will have swimming every Thursday till half term.

Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
Please bring in P.E kits on Monday – these will be sent home on Fridays.

Many Thanks for your continued support!
Mr Askew, Mr Kerray, Mrs Jefferys and Mrs Baker.
