Year 3 Week 19 2015

We are continuing to read as many Greek myths and legends as possible.
We are continuing to focus on the tale of Theseus and the Minotaur, we have recounted the epic tale, using our story map skills.

Mr. Kerray’s mathematics group this week have been finding strategies to calculate a quarter of a number and using this information to help us with our four times table.

Mr. Askew’s group have been ordering fractions with the same denominator and looking at equivalent fractions to a half.

In R.E. the children discussed the New Testament story of ‘Suffer little children.’ We had to think about the kind of questions we would ask Jesus.

In Computing we started to write an e-mail from Ariadne after she had been abandoned on the beach.

(Don’t forget your child has log ins for educational sites in the front of their journal.)

Mr Fidler has embarked on clay coil pots that reflect the influence pottery had on Greek society.
Mr Reeves continues teaching the children skills for mastering the art of playing the ukulele!
Swimming had to be cancelled this week due to the German public holiday of the Ascension.

Reminders:
Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
Please bring in P.E kits on Monday - these will be sent home on Fridays.

Many Thanks for your continued support!
Mr Askew, Mr Kerray, Mrs Jefferys/H. Baker.
