Year 1 Week 23 2015

Acting out the talk for writing actions
In Literacy we came up with actions for our new innovated story. We practised our talk for writing actions and then had a go at re writing the story of the Bog Baby in our ‘hot writes’. It was great to see the children using a range of ‘wow’ words and similes!
In Mathematics the children had a go at halving odd numbers to 10/20, they found that you couldn’t evenly split an odd number and instead you ended up with a ½ of a number! The children have also had a go at telling the time to o clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. We wonder if they could tell you what the time is at home!?

In science this week the children had a look at different types of animals. They looked at sorting herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and the different types of food each type of animal will eat.

The children have continued to look at the seaside. This week the children were finding out about the seaside ‘now and then’. They found it interesting to see that people used to be fully clothed because they didn't want to catch the sun!

Final Note-. Thank you for all of your support over the past few weeks helping the children to practise reading the different phonetic words. All children did their best on the day and were very enthusiastic.

Due to working so hard with their phonic words over the past few weeks, we've decided to let the children have a weekend free of homework!

 Have a lovely weekend.
