Year 3 Week 21 2015

This week in English we have started to look at speeches and how to write them in preparation for the main event ‘Theseus versus the Minotaur!’

Mr. Kerray’s mathematics group this week have revised multiplying by 5 and been introduced to multiplying by 6 using a double and double again strategy. Mr. Askew’s group have added and subtracted fractions with the same denominator and used vertical addition.

In RE the children revisited the story of Bilal and then created their own ‘Call to Prayer’ from a high point in school.
In Computing we used Textease to create a poster on the subject of Greek food.
Mr Fidler has started a sculpture project with the children.
In music we looked at different compositions that use Pachelbel’s Canon.

Sampling Greek food
The children really enjoyed their Groovy Greek morning with a chance to learn Greek, create a mythical creature and sample some Greek delights!
We also had an interesting Forest School morning on Thursday with the children creating clay spirits on trees – it was good to see so many parents attend.
We are looking forward to ordering ice creams in German at the local ice cream parlour on Monday!

Homework: some Maths and English this week.
Reminders:
Please remember a daily reading session of about 10 minutes will really help your child’s progress. Also a few questions about what they have read will help aid comprehension.
Please bring in P.E kits on Monday - these will be sent home on Fridays.

Many Thanks for your continued support!
Mr Askew, Mr Kerray, Mrs Jefferys and Mrs Baker.
