Year FS2 Week 23 2015

This week the children have been continuing with their learning about keeping healthy. They have been identifying parts of a skeleton and talking about how to keep our bones strong and healthy. The children enjoyed their visit to the strawberry field where they all completed their mission of collecting 25 strawberries each, plus a few to taste! The children used their scientific skills to investigate all about strawberries they weighed and ordered the different sized strawberries, and they looked at how they could float and sink and used magnifying glasses to look at the inside of a strawberry. The children also made strawberry milkshakes, and a very healthy strawberry dessert. Finally the children made strawberry ice cream with the strawberries that had been frozen which they all enjoyed.

Next week we will be starting our new theme all about Journeys, and our journey of transition into Year 1. As an introduction to this theme we will be learning all about the story of “Handa’s Surprise” which is the story of a little girl who goes on a journey to visit her friend and meets many animals on her way.

As part of our learning we will be going on our trip to the Zoo on Monday 22nd June. Please can we remind you that all children will need to wear school uniform and to wear comfortable walking shoes. They will all need a sun hat and sun cream applied before coming to school. All children will need a packed lunch and a drink (No fizzy drinks or glass bottles please) The children can bring spending money for an ice cream in a named envelope this should be no more than 2 Euros.

Can we remind you that all children need a plain white t-shirt that we can draw and write on for our graduation celebration and an empty shoe box with a lid.  Please can these be brought into school by Thursday 25th June.

Have a lovely weekend!
Best wishes from  FS2 team
