Year 1 Week 25 2015

Playing team games with the parachute
In Literacy we have been looking at the story ‘The Jolly Postman’. The children really enjoyed reading the different letters and seeing what was in each envelope. They then had a go at writing a letter to Goldilocks from the ‘Three Bears’ and creating a brochure for Cinderella. It was lovely to see the children taking on the different persona of each character.

Investigating at Forest Schools
In Mathematics the children used number facts to add and subtract 1 digit numbers to and from 2 digit numbers. The children really saw how important it is to know their number bonds to help them work with bigger numbers.

This week the children have designed an outfit that it sensible and appropriate for going to the beach. They also looked at the different types of materials that they could use. The fluffy material was definitely deemed inappropriate for a hot sunny day at the beach.

Transition Morning
All the children really enjoyed their morning with their new class teacher and getting a taster as to what it will be like in Year 2. They all came back with extra smiley faces!

Final Note-
With the sun shining as brightly as it is, please put sun cream on your child before they come to school and send them in with a sunhat and water bottle- they can refill their water bottle at the drinking fountain if needed.
Next week is arts week and we ask that if you have any 500ml plastic bottles lying around the house if you could send them in to school with your child we would be extremely grateful!

Thank you for your continued support.
