Head Teacher's New Year Message - 08 Jan 16

Happy New Year! Welcome back to school.

Many classes have been discussing their New Year resolutions and what a broad range there were! This work fitted well with our assemblies this week, where we have been discussing the 5Rs and, in particular, the meaning of the word 'resilience'.

The power of the 5 Rs, to make me a life-long learner, are:

  • Responsibility.
  • Respect.
  • Resilience.
  • Risk taking.
  • Reflective.

In one assembly, we watched the story called Giraffes Don’t Dance. If you would like to watch a clip of the story, there is an excellent one on You Tube.

Over the Christmas Holiday, we have been busy updating the school website. We have added a Learning links page which, as the name suggests, contains hyper links to some useful websites including Accelerated Reader, Education City and Espresso. The logins for these educational resources are in your child’s journal. We hope that you find the information useful. Please let us know of any difficulties you have logging in, via your child's journal.

This week, we enjoyed a performance by the Gütersloh Music Centre musicians, of Hansel and Gretel. Also, the children wrapped up warmly for Forest Schools and enjoyed the small amount of snow which fell.

Have a good weekend,

Mrs Mason

PS Hopefully, we won’t need to use action our Snow and Ice Plan. Just in case, you will find our it on the revised school website.
