Head Teacher's Message - 04 Mar 16

Reading for fun
You will be aware that Mr. Light, an Ofsted inspector, spent the day with us on Tuesday 01 March. Under the new inspection arrangements, schools judged to be 'Good' previously receive a 3 yearly, one day inspection to confirm that this is still the case.

Mr. Light spent the day talking to our children, the staff, members of the School Governance Committee (SGC) and myself. He also watched some teaching and learning, looked at the children’s work and scrutinized our Improvement Plans. Mr. Light went on to look at the pupil, staff and parent surveys and check thoroughly our arrangements for keeping children safe.

Good news. Truly, Good news!

On the basis of the information gained, Mr. Light confirmed that Ofsted still believes Bielefeld School to be a Good school. I am delighted!
The pleasure of being 'read to'

Mr. Light will send us a letter within the next 15 days. In this letter, he will summarise his findings. I will share the letter with you, as soon as it is published.

Sharing books, across the ages

Thank you, everyone, for your ongoing support; especially those of you who contributed to the Parent View Survey. I would also like to thank the children, staff and SGC members for all of their hard work and support during my first year of being the Headteacher at Bielefeld School.

Boys love reading too!

This week has definitely been a busy week! I can now confirm that Bielefeld School contributed officially to the World Book Day Guinness World Record attempt and that we helped to break the record for simultaneous literature quizzing. Well done!

I leave you with some photographs from our World Book Day celebrations.

I wish you a happy and relaxing weekend,

Mrs. Mason
