Head Teacher's Post 27th January 2017

Weekly Round up

Dear parents and children,

It has been a busy week in school. Year 2 children began helping as Playground Friends. They have done a good job at organising games for the younger children as well as putting equipment away. I would like to say a special well done to Isaac for organising a super number game with the cones.

Year 4 children have made volcano cakes as part of their topic work this term. I can vouch for the tastiness of the cakes! Thanks Year 4. Year 1 children investigated the mess in the kitchen and spotted signs of a tiger breaking into our school. I am sure if you are a Year 1 parent you will have heard all about this!

The Tiger that came to visit..... Year 1

Year 1 children were shocked to hear that a tiger had visited the school and made a complete mess in the kitchen!
I look forward to reading their reports!

Reading Survey 2017.

This week I carried out a reading survey.  The children were very helpful.

The vast majority of children said that they enjoyed reading and that their favourite type of book was a story book.

Almost all children said that they enjoyed being part of Accelerated Reader and especially liked the challenge of the quizzes.

About half of the children said that they read with an adult at home. The vast majority read at least 3 times a week and a significant number said that they read every night.

I also listened to the children read and was very impressed with the range of skills they are using.

Thank you for all of your support with your child’s reading. It really does make a difference. Below are the station library opening times so please take advantage of this fantastic service.
