School Council

The School Council was set up to help pupils play an active role in their school.

The Council's work encourages children to understand democracy, the rule of law, individuals' liberties, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

By being involved actively in school life, children develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in, and contribute positively to, the communities in which they live.

Every term, each class votes for 2 representatives to sit on the School Council. Older pupils are encouraged to make an election speech, explaining why they would be the most suitable candidate, and what they would bring to the role.

The School Council meets at least once a month. At this meeting (chaired currently by Mrs Mason), members discuss suggestions that their class mates have raised. A minute-taker is chosen from the Council members.

The School Council votes on actions to be taken and feeds back to its members at a monthly Assembly.

Below is a flavour of some of the activities in which the School Council has been involved:
  • Organising and judging the Bielefeld's Got Talent competition 2016.
  • Organising fund raising for Children In Need. We raised 240 euros!
  • Running the school tuck shop. So far we have made 100 euros profit. We will use this to purchase items to place in the shoe box appeal 2016

Putting yourself forward makes a difference!
